VCD's screwing up on DVD player

I've burned off about 30 VCD's so far, when they are on the computer as MPEG's, they work fine, no problem watching it. When I burn them as VCD's and try to watch them on my DVD player, they work fine until about 40 min into it, the movie gets all jumpy for about 20 min. 2 of my buddies have the same problem, work great as MPEG's on the PC, but as VCD's they screw up after about 40 min. Anyone know what the hell is on the go
