Copying renegade. Did I do everything

Hi, I`m using a Creative 12x10x32 Rewriter. I Backed up renegade using Cloney and BetaBlocker. It will only work when playing through my rewriter with the HideMedia enabled. But get this. When I boot the game up and the screen goes black as if its loading, and asks to Insert the CD.
When I click cancel it loads fine. Is that normal.
PS it didn`t work using my normal CD rom Drive. And forgive me for bring Renegade up, as I know its been mentioned quite a bit in the forums
