CCD and LG burner?

Hey guys, my friend's got an compaq with an LG 8x burner (at least that's what ccd says) and it will not READ TO FILE IMAGE for some games (Battle Realms) but will for some. It took forever and not 1% was read?????????? Any suggestions/ideas?
