Interested in pls2 and dvd burner?

I have a cd burner and am very interested in getting a dvd burner.
I messed around with these programs trying to rip dvds from a dvd rom to a cdw with littel success. The few movies that came out where poor in quality and it took about 8 hours to rip one dvd. What I want to know if is a DVDRW any easier to burn dvds with or do you still have to change the formats and stuff? And how easy are pls2 games to rip? Do you have to have any special chips or anything for your pls2 to make thsi work? I love technology but sometimes its a little over me head. Thanks for and response appreciate your help.
