Sounds just like a bad copy. The two disc thing is for a different purpase. If you have copied something on a non-branded cd at 8 speed for example the laser will go right true the cd. It doesn`t harm the cd but the laser just don`t get any reflection. if you put another cd on top of the bad cd you could have a better reflection but my advice is not to do this. certainly not in a ps2. Those things are very sensitive. you could try to slow down your writing speed but verbatin is a good brand. you could try clonecd.
