Have run into this many times. If your soundcard is based in your north or south bridge chips....built into the main board....you are probably using the AC97 sound drivers. These do not like working with the DVD veiwing software. I have not located a fix for this....so this is my fix: Buy a Soundblaster Live 5.1 card....about $35 and install it. Manually install the drivers.....if you let the automatic install of the drivers do the job you usually end up with the WDM version driver which doesn't support the sound.

If you don't have a mainboard sound system....you may have to just uninstall the driver (probably says WDM after the driver in Device Manager) and then manually install the driver for your OS....you may have to dig for it on the CD that came with the sound card.
