Argo has provided the best advice - yopur best bet is AR2/v1.7.
Ar2/v2.x is useless on your PS2 and especially with the NEO2 on which DVD-Rs are difficult to play. If you have NEO2.2 then it may be possible. Nobody has yet reported success with the triple swap method of booting with AR2/1.6 (reset kept pressed); booting AR2/1.7 behind that (reset still pressed); then the DMC then the DVD-R releasing RESET at the right point. So the odds are not really with you but it's worth a try when you've downloaded AR2/1.7. Let us know please.
