Oddity With My V5 R-Mod

I have a V5 No-Solder R-Mod. Works like a champ with the exception of one little problem: it forcibly ejects the door during swap(s).

The instructions say to hold the eject button down until the power light changes from green to orange, however this never happens on mine. I hold the eject button down and then the door comes 'shooting' out (like 3-5x the normal eject speed). I swap and then it retracts at about the same speed. Is this normal? Do all of these chips behave like this?

Obviously, I'm concerned about long-term damage to the drive from this type of ejecting (I just bought this V5 and could conceivably still return it as I have the receipt).

Any help, as always, is greatly appreciated.
