Booting...anyoneelse have snags..??

I used to be able to place my AR2 disk in my ps2, switch on and hey presto....boots to menu screen no probs...
Now, whenever i place the disk in, it fails to read it about 99% of the time......takes me ages to play a game.....anyone help...????
Ive bought a new disk, but this didnt cure the problem and ive just cleaned the laser with one of those cd things........
