I've got a Plextor drive and have been using for three weeks now (its the 24/10/40) ok so its a little slower, but my point I haven't installed any drivers for it at all.
I've backup'd several games etc so far without probs. I presume the Roxio basic software contains and earlier version of Easy CD? If so and you install that and you have an new version it will probably ask if you either want to update the old one or it will tell you to remove it (or do it for you) before it installs the new version
