Problem with Arcanum

Hello i've got a problem.

I've a copy of arcanum that a friend give to me and want to play the game.

When i launch the installation the program break and say :

"Error during differences applications. Verify that the access ways of transformations are ok. "

or something like that.

Could anyone help me and explain me if it is a protection and how to pass trough it ???
