Game errors and I dont know what to do

I have tried every single crack for every version for Emperor BfD and when I run the game it will show me the intro movie and then the game will close by itself PLEASE help me if u know what is wrong. I have the same problem for Max Payne using the 1.0 patch crack or 1.01 patch crack but in a different place. In the begining of the game when he enters his house then goes up the stairs. The killer will come out and Max will say NYPD blah blah blah and then I shoot him and after he dies the game ####ts to continue the story but the game just closes. I doubt it has to do with my comp I got 733 pentium 3 procesor, 128 mb rdram, geforce graphics card, soundblaster live sound card. If any1 had this problem and fixed it plz respond.
