newbie help please

i use a aopen writer with cd clone ive written everything sucsessfully so far as cdclone says my unit should,but i just tried to write ds9 the fallen and it wrote ok but after install the exe to play the game bombs out.ive got the patch and it works fine but was wondering if it has to be this way or if im writing it wrong,also if im going to have this prob with most games.
