diablo 2

please help me, i dont know how to apply a patch or archive a patch, i have tried to play my diablo 2 game w/o cd. i know these questions are probably dumb but i have already tried about 10 times. i hope u can help. i d/l Diablo 2 v1.05b Patch to my desktop and then put it in diablo2 and removed the exe copied the music and it still wont work. i have version 1.0 us.
