Plex-Writer Question?

I bought a plex 12/10/32a so I could back-up some software and it has the 1.08 version on it and it worked fine with RA2 with the smiley patch, for another cd rom. I found out that it would only play in the plex the first time so I tried the patch and it works fine in the regular cd rom now. I was wondering if the Plextor is the right cd writer to have for the new upcoming games or I was reading alot about the Phillips is the way to go for the new protection. I read some things that where not to good about the phillips also that they
have some problems on there sub channel reading so I dont know what to do if I should keep the one I got or get another. And if so which is the best one out there that will work with the new copyright protection and do everything the plex does. The only weak spot they say of the plex 1.08 is the SD2 Protection but I have tried it on 2 games and it works fine even in another cd rom with the smiley patch. Im just looking for some suggestions?
