At first i used a program called clonecd database, this scanned the cd and tells the protection of the disc. Now I find most games are easy to distinguish by the files in the root directory of the cd.
Soon you'll be able to tell for yourself and maybe like me you'll find clonecd is not necessary, and more often than not a pain in the arse! It is much easier to copy all the files from the CD, and replace the exe with one that has had the CD check removed. Saves loading a memory resident program to play them as well.
