If you use a crack, it's even easier to back up most sd2 protected games. The dummy file stuff (and using the oversized files) is just a typical delta force copy protection.
Most other cd's aren't protected in such a way, so all you need to do is copy all the files from the cd on your hdd, replace the main executable with a cracked one and burn everything on a cd-r. That's it!
