Need basic help/info game copying please?

I am new to this copyng and can copy basic utility cd's and audios, but i'm having probs copying pc game cd's, as backups only of course.
I have been unable to find a site that takes you through basics and explains everything, as well as terms. Can anyone help or recommend a site that takes you through all stages and variations please.
