New to the world of copying games. HELP!

Could someone please explain the process of copying a game. I want to copy The Arrival, but am not quite sure what to do. Do you have to check to see if it needs a crack first? I would really appreciate a step by step here. That would be great. How would I know if it needs anything else besides the actual cd/s. ANy help would be greatly appreciated. I have the CD recording software that came with my Sony Rewritable Recorder.
