Permban is a good solution for me in this case. Please go ahead with that.
In my opinion, deleting the account would be similar to your permban, that the account shouldn’t be possible to log into, but forum history should remain (as deleting posts and comments would quickly render the forum useless). The nickname of a deleted account could be replaced with a “deleted user” entirely, or it gets added after the original nick.
