systemshock2 nocd problem... plz reply

I use gamecopyword [gcw] for source of backup/patch/update info.
They suggest to copy 1:1 for system shock2,
a.. copy cd to hd
b.. apply fixed.exe
c.. copy as iso back to cd

problem is you cannot copy direct to hdd.. as it fails to read a file called snd2.crf. Is this info incorrect from gcw?
I,m assuming as it is safedisc protected, this is where bad sectors are?
nb: using clone cd i made perfect copy using a traxdata cdrw 2260+.
Additionally if you install full version of game & run "no cd" patch, it does so ,but i lose audio speech at intro & during game.
Is this normal?
Ideally i would like to install full game,
apply fixed.exe patch /game version update/nocd patch & finally burn back to cd in modified state.
