It may be a bit late although maybe this helps someone browsing through the old threads in hope to find a solution.

I assume you are using a PAL machine....and you are playing a NTSC game...
The problem here is indeed that the sound and the game are not exactly in sync. For any other game it is meaningless BUT Dance Dance Revolution (the mother of all games by the way *g*) MUST be played in sync. there is a workaround for that to speed up the game. You have to use Gameshark codes. The Gameshark is a Bootdisk you can download. I think it works with something like "X-Ploder" too... even the PS-Xchance. At first you have to look for the codes (best is to use www.google.com) They are called "Speed Fix Gameshark codes" or similar. they look something like this "8004F3F9 0012". Burn the Boot disk and start with it (Mod chip is needed unless you have a PS-Xchange) and enter the codes...pop in the game CD if asked and have fun!!!
