help with a patch!!!

i bought "the legend of dragoon", and then when i put it in my ps, there is a message that tells me that my console if modified or something like that.... i imagine that the game doesn't run because of the mod chip, but i did a copy with the respective patch, and doesn't work either....
anyone can help me on this??
