switched lid for psx
I am curently using an external mod chip on a 7001 series psx. I didn't want to have to deal with the spring/the lid at all, so my initial solve was to take the lid off and put a penny/dime in bettwen the metal plate and the motherboard, worked like a charm (mad props to my dude Nate Dogg for the initial ingunity). Eventually I was playing driver 2 and found out you had to open the lid up throw the other disc in and close it. So i took the old plunger switch out and replaced with with two wires going to a 3 pole 2 way toggle sitch on the back of the psx. Unfourtanetly still can't play driver 2 disc 2, damn external mod, gona buy some pics but put it on the outside on the back too next to the switch with one of thoes pic holders and hard wire it. To put the switch in is pretty simple, you take the old one out (hardest part for us, it was being a pain). The top 2 poles and bottom 2 poles are common, so you only need 2 wires, put one in one of the top holes, and one in the bottom hole and one in the top hole. The you connect one wire to the middle pole and one to one of the outer poles, drilled a hole in the back of the psx to put the switch in. Since the psx thinks the lid is closed when thoes wires are shorted, it thinks that the lid is closed when you have the switch the way of the 2 wires, open the other way when the circuit is open. You need to chop out quit a good bit of the metal plate to make ample room for the switch, I didn't put enough room at first and all 3 poles were touching it, making the circuit closed (shorted) at all times. This solution would also be nice for people wanting a quick way to swap disc (within 5 secs) so their stealth coded mod chip dosen't reset it's. Any further questions just e-mail or repost, hope this helps some people, Peace.
