I haven't tried the mini-image method, but I have tried full images using Alcohol 120% plus A.C.I.D. to hide the virtual drive that the image was mounted. Also tried using Y.A.S.U. to hide the drives from SecuROM. The SecuROM in the 1.1 patch could still detect the emulation and wouldn't even launch.
I've tried creating a physical disk using A120 and it detects that as well and won't start. I'll try disabling AV (avast) and see if that's the issue.
