Could you remind me of the following (as I've got some web speed problems in looking up your previous posts):
a) PS2 model b) Type of installed modchip c) Current boot method As a partial answer to your question, you can't play PAL DVDs in the Jap PS2. So DVDRX (JAP) loaded behind the Utility Disk will play US DVDs.
