The downside is having to use extra software (Daemon Tools in this case, the full version of which requires online activation which IMHO is even worse....) and the need to mount an image each time (though DaemonScript could presumably automate this).
Short of a proper crack, the next best thing for game owners to do would be to
petition Atari to remove Securom completely.
