some help with mp3 player please?

when it comes to computers and other related stuff it seems i'm not so good.

I got an mp3 player a couple of days ago, and it seems that I can't put certain songs on it,a friend of mine told me that these might be protected.The question is, how can I make them not to be protected and copy them on the mp3 player?
