The Sims 2 at Vista No-CD

Can't run Sims 2 deluxe out of the box with an HD2600 ATI card...frame rates drop right away when entering the game and it craps out. Has anyone else had this problem? Sure am not happy - just bought this game. CPU is AMD dual core X2 4600 and this shouldn't be the issue.
