Hitman on Steam?

Speaking of Steam, is there a way to like order them on a DVD ? My bandwidth isn't the best one out there, so I can hardly let Steam run for a week for a single game :-/
Activation isn't a big problem, playing online isn't either. It's just that with 1k you're not supposed to dl games, that's gay :x

So far I bought Valve games in stores, just like HL2 - they force you to install Steam, which grabs the 'backup files' from the DVD and installs it (just like the stuff you have when you back up any of your downloaded games to an archive - there's an option inside Steam)...

So I was wondering if I can get some of the Steam-only games (eg Sam & Max or The Ship) without having to download it...
Is there maybe some sort of 'inofficial' way to get the files so I could ask a friend or so to get the backup files for me and I just have to buy and activate the stuff ?
