As far as PS games go (and PC for that matter) you are best off getting "Clone CD", of all my experience with different burning software this is the best. The reason being because using this software you don't need any patches, the software makes an exact duplicate of the CD ,including bad sectors, the only problem is that this software only supports a handful of burners. Having said that the handful is getting bigger with every update.
Settings to use are as follows:
Read subchannel data - enabled
Read subchannel audio - enabled
Don't repair bad sectors
This software is very easy to use and very user friendly.
