NEWBIE: Burning Patches

hi!
i would like to put patches on my psx games, but i only have nero and blind read/write. from what i have heard is that i can only put patches on psx games with CDR-WIN, is this true because i dont want to clog up my pc with burning software!!
please help, thanks
p.s. how do i patch psx games???????????
