I LOVE(d) Windows 98, and had a very nicely maintained installation for about 3-4 years, and upgraded to Windows XP only about 2 years ago. Believe me, there is nothing in Windows 98 that Windows XP doesn't have but, vice versa, ohhh, the horror, starting with (the complete lack of) stability!
 (And I haven't even mentioned the shit Windows 9x drivers that manufacturers come up with for today's hardware that makes the situation even worse...!) For your sanity, I suggest that you upgrade.
