swap magic slide tool

i finally bought me another 39001 PS2. if you remember from my threads below my ps2 stopped spinning and thought it was the ps13 fuse but i put a jumper on that and it still didint work and i swapped out dvd drives thinking it was the laser and that didnt work so i just bought another 39001 model. Since i havent played ps2 in a while i thought about using the swapmagic disc till i have time to reinstall my magic2 modchip. Is it necessary to use the slide tool? is that all is needed beside the SM disc?
