Playstation 2 info needed!

I need the following info on Playstation 2 games and consoles, I know nothing so far.

Are the games on CD Rom or DVD Rom?

Will it be possible to copy them?

I have heard that a mod chip will be needed to play copied games, is this true and if so where are they available?
