Myst Iv Problems - Please Help

Hello, I am so sorry if this type of thread has been used on here before but I do need your help. I have MYST IV PC game but am having trouble playing it. I do know that if you have a DVD-RW, the disc has anti-coping software on it and this conflicts with the loading process and does not allow you to play the game. I have quite a good knowledge of computing, but find most advice hard to follow. Is there anyone out there that can give me some simple advice on how I might go about getting around this problem. The game itself loads fine, but once it states to "start new game", when I press that button, my screen goes black. I'd really like to get this game up and running. Also, does the games "URU" & "MYST V" act in the same way? or has the company done away with the measures that they placed on MYST IV, allowing the user to simply load & play?
I would be most grateful if you could give me some clear, simple advice and thank you in advance.
