The Godfather -- Crash To Desktop, solutions

Hello all, I've recently gotten the godfather game (original CD) and it works on one of my other pc's, yet it doesnt work on this one

AMD athlon 64 / 3200 +
1 GB ram
Windows xp PRofessional (sp2)
Geforce 6200
Sound blaster Audigy Gamer

Now... even with the original CD it doesn't work. I've tried doing all the no DVD cracks, I've tried the fixed image (and using things like s4dhide to hide) I've tried almost everything I could find on these forums, solution wise.

Now I went into safe mode, and clicked on the game... and it said "No sound card can be found"! which made sense, I recently installed this audigy gamer... however EVERYTHING shows that the card is working + all the software + all the trouble-shooting... yet it still crashes to desktop at the first splash screen. And whenever I go into safe mode it still gives me the sondcard problem

any ideas?

(all drivers updated... although using web aquired drivers only)
