If I'm not mistaken, a "private server patch" is when your client becomes able to connect to a server on the LAN rather than the central server, situated at the publisher (or the developer). But that doesn't necessarily mean disabling the CD-key checks. Why is the CD-key check such a big problem for you?
(Correct capitalization and punctuation would be preferred, it gives me a headache to read such spaghetti sentences...)
