Well, you've stumped me there L.A.? The encoding in Notepad is default at ANSI so that should not be an issue!
If all files are in the same directory, c:\ind, then I can't see a reason for it to not work!! I've just followed my own instructions and it works! The first file in list.txt is bigfile_pc.idm so it's not getting past the first file in the list, could be either the tilde '~' symbol or the underscore '_' not being parsed? I can't think of anything else to do!
