Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne hanging

Hey,
I´ve been playing Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne for a couple of weeks, and I really love it, but my luck with the game seems really bad. For some weird reason it seems to freeze on certain areas of the game, and inexplicably crash at random times, mostly while loading a new area or after a battle...the music continues going on, but the game freezes. I´ve returned the game three times to the guy I bought it from, and since its an older game it hard to get. I´ve even had my PS2 checked and it seems to be fine, everything else plays mostly without problems.
So has anybody else experienced these problems with the game?
