A big part of the problem might be that many games are pretty hard to make general NoCD's for. A fixed .exe is often more easy to do.

Also remember that for the scene it is a race and a NoCD might require extra work and can lead to a lost race.

The starforce version used by Splinter Cell is still uncracked and I think it will be for a long time to come. But I still have hope that Starforce will one day be defeated and thus no longer be the Ultimate Protection and therefore no longer used by publishers...

Supporting crackers will be very hard to do as these people are very often hunted by the different groups as the FBI, RIAA and so on. So any connection to their real-life names would make them easy to catch.
