Do you know what protection the game has? Because if you do have a decent reader you could make a working 1:1 image that can be mounted with Daemon-Tools and thus eliminate the need of the disc in the drive.
If the protection is Safedisc or similar you can make a mini-image too and use that. Check out the protection and search the forums and you will probably find what you need. If not feel free to ask again...
