![]() An unsigned double word consists of four bytes, each of which can have 256 different values: from 0 to 255. Similarly, a four-digit decimal number consists of four decimal digits, each of which can have 10 different values: from 0 to 9. The maximum value for a four-digit decimal number is 10x10x10x10 - 1 = 9999, not 9x9x9x9 = 6561. The maximum value for an unsigned double word is analogously 256x256x256x256 - 1 = 4,294,967,295, not 255x255x255x255 = 4,228,250,625.
