Spiderchip/Modding Confusion

I'll give you fair warning, I'm a noob and I'm looking to mod my xbox. I've modded a number of ps2 units, but apparently the xbox is a little different.

I'm looking for a no-solder option. My eye is set on the spiderchip v1.1 To my understanding, you need to reflash the chip with a different bios to get it to run backed up games... or does it come that way from the factory?

Also, i read the install tutorial on the spiderchip site, and it references soldering a few wires to the main board. this confuses me, since i thought it was solderless. The tutorial says nothing about solderless, so i am confused. I heard i could just cut the wires if i didnt want to solder them. but what other way are they going to connect the points? I guess there is a lack of information on this kind of thing, and I cant wrap my mind around what ive found so far.
