What do thease numbers mean ???

Hello can anyone please tell me what the numbers mean that are nxt to the word Multi . for example if i was downloading, Splintercell Chaos Theory Ps2 FullDvD Pal multi3.rar , Sometimes it might say multi2 or multi5 on diffrent games , what do thease numbers mean please . thankyou
