Newbie needs help about burning/swapping!

Hi everyone

i'm kinda new to this Ps2 backing up thing...so yea, i wanna ask some stuff about ps2 isos/backups

i have an american version of ps2, SCPH 30001, so yea, what exactly do i need to have in order to swap backed up games? do i need DVD region X?

and how exactly do i backup ps2 games? do i just put the game in my DVD-Rom and make an image of it using CDR-win? or do i have to d/l the iso of the net instead? would any backed up game work with the swapping technique without a modchip? i mean the "COG method"...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! thanx in advance!
