Starforce question.

Up until now, I've not bought any Starforce games because of the problems making a backup. However, as this protection is being used more and more nowadays, I may start buying Starforce protected games again. On the fixed MDS image instructions, when it says install game, does this have to be done from a Starforce original, or can it be done from a backup? As far as I'm concerned, if you can't install from a backup, then you haven't got a backup have you!

The reason I ask is this. The only game with Starforce that I have is Trackmania. When I install from the original it plays fine. Up on re-installing Windows, I installed using a Trackmania Backup, used Starforce Nightmare, and mounted the Mini image in Daemon tools (latest). I could not get the game to play at all (Stalled at CD check). I don't know if this is because the game is old, and Starforce fixes were dodgy at the time, or because I installed the game from a backup.
