Is STEAM worth it on 56K?

Thanks JoyBoy. I was just hoping to hear from someone that has actually used dialup. I have never seen the STEAM interface and I was wondering if it gave you an actual file size before you downloaded any updates/files. Even "small" files can be a pain on dialup.
