Pretty sure linksys is comaptible with the xbox.. They're pretty reliable also.
I hate the networking stuff.. It gets so frustrating if you don't have it down pat or forget one small thing.

I think it might help if we knew a lot more about the setup Eric.
Is your box running a network cable to the to the linksys or do you have wireless adapter to it. Linksys routers have built in firewalls, i'm sure the DLink probably did too, but check your settings and make sure your xbox adapter isn't being locked out by security like a MAC or IP address filter.

Make sure your Xbox isn't having a an IP conflict with one of your PCs network cards. Probably isn't an issue since you assign the Static IP of the Xbox manually.

Not really that skilled in the area of routers even though I have a Linksys like you. I have a hardline coming in off the router to a NIC and another NIC running to my box.. I run a network bridge between the two.. Seems to make things a little simpler.. Works for XBLive and XBConnect also..
