Swifty,
I first got the insert ps or ps2 format disc when I tried to install burnout 3 on my hdd. The way I over came this problem was to put the original game in the drive, and while the ps2 was still reading the disc, hit install. Once the ps2 read the disc and stopped spining, I got the error message. Hope this helps a bit.
